If Northern Ireland’s troubled past can teach us anything, it is that culture wars can lead to shooting wars. No-one in Ulster’s establishment or civil rights movement in the 1960s expected or desired a thirty year terrorist campaign. Each side was committed to democracy and the rule of law.

A Few Fears About Assisted Dying

There are some subjects which can only be approached with fear and trembling – and this is certainly how I feel about the topic of assisted dying. Make no mistake – I believe that every human being is made in the image of God; I also believe that it is wrong to deliberately kill any innocent human being.
