‘Never discuss religion or politics’; it’s an age old phrase which will be familiar to many, and one which has sought to give advice about how we should behave in ‘polite society’ (whatever that is in the 21st Century).

For the custodians of an apologetics ministry, however, to ignore the first is impossible, and for citizens of Northern Ireland the latter is unavoidable.

Consider the heart of an unborn child. Barely a fortnight after fertilization the heart is forming. By the next week the heart will divide into chambers and start beating. Or consider the striking images which show us that merely six weeks after conception the unborn child is recognisably human.This image of a vulnerable human being calls for a humane response.
